Charge Best BayHawks for Fifth-Straight Win

The Canton Charge won their franchise-best fifth-straight game with a 124-121 victory over the Erie BayHawks in front of 2,863 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Saturday night. The Charge are now 24-18 overall this season and currently sit atop the East Conference with eight games left to play. Erie falls to 21-19 with the loss.

The stage was set for an exciting finish as the game was tied at 80 heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams combined for 85 points in the final period in an offensive barrage that saw the Charge hit 12-of-15 shots from the field for 80%. Canton converted 18-of-21 free throws in the final quarter to ice the game, including 15 straight at one point, as Erie continuously fouled to try and stay in it. The Charge made 33-of-42 overall from the charity stripe, good for season-highs in both attempts and makes.

Luke Harangody continued to be a force with his fifth double-double of the year as he netted 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds with two blocked shots in 29 minutes. Adidas Player of the Game T.J. Campbell scored 27 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 11-of-13 from the free throw line with seven assists in 43 minutes. Alan Anderson provided 26 points in 30 minutes for his fourth game of 20+ points in just the fifth contest he has played in.

The BayHawks had three players score 20+ points in the game, led by D.J. Kennedy's 29 with six assists in 37 minutes. Erie was a perfect 8-0 this season when Kennedy scored 20 or more points before tonight's loss. Kyle Goldcamp was a strong presence in the post with 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 36 minutes. Mychel Thompson, who spent a stretch of this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, added 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals in 46 minutes for Erie.

The Charge had their third-best shooting game of the season as they were 43-of-73 for 59% overall from the field tonight. Kyle Gibson came off the bench to score 15 points with three rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes. Frank Hassell had 14 points with seven rebounds and two steals in 28 minutes of relief. Canton is now 7-1 since the All-Star break and has won 14 of their last 18 games. The Charge have the 2-1 edge in the season series, and the two teams will meet three more times in the final three weeks of the regular season.

The Charge will remain at home for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Wednesday, March 21st at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
