Champs unveil Blast Bar

Baltimore – The two-time MISL defending champion Baltimore Blast announced today that the team has produced a specially packaged "Blast Bar" to be sold at all home Blast games as well as in Mars Super Markets and Royal Farms Convenience Stores in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The Blast Bar, produced by Wolfgang Candy Company Inc., has a wrapper that features photos of Baltimore Blast stars Denison Cabral and Giuliano Celenza.

"The candy bar provides us with another way to market the Blast, from Mars Super Markets to Royal Farms stores to 1st Mariner Arena to local fundraising events," said Blast General Manager Kevin Healey. "It will be fun to see Denison and Giuls featured on the Blast Bar."

Made of crisped rice in milk chocolate, the Blast Bar is now available in Mars Super Markets, with 18 locations throughout Maryland, and at more then 30 Royal Farms locations. The Blast expects to sell the Blast Bars in additional stores soon. The Blast Bar will also be available at 1st Mariner Arena during all Blast homes games, beginning tomorrow night when the Blast hosts the Philadelphia KiXX. In addition, the Blast Cheerleaders will be handing Blast Bars out to selected fans after every Blast goal this season.

The Blast Bar wrapper highlights Cabral and Celenza and also features a $2 off coupon that is good at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office at all home games during the 2004-05 regular season. Cabral, an eight-year veteran of the MISL, is a five-time All Star and was the MVP of the 2003 Championship Series. Celenza, a Baltimore native and a graduate of UMBC, ranked third on the Blast in points last season and was the MVP of the 2004 MISL All Star Game.

The Blast (2-1) will host the Philadelphia KiXX this Friday night, November 5 at 7:35 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena. The team will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday to complete the weekend's home-and-home series with the KiXX. Kickoff at the Wachovia Spectrum is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Following last weekend's 8-7 overtime victory in St. Louis, Blast midfielder P.J. Wakefield was named co-MISL Offensive Player of the Week. Wakefield recorded two goals and two assists against the Steamers; his second goal was the game-winner. Tomorrow night's game will feature a free post-game concert by Jeremy Camp and Building 429 as part of the team's Christian Youth Night activities.
