Champs set for two preseason games vs. KiXX

Baltimore – The Baltimore Blast announced today that the team will play two preseason games against the Philadelphia KiXX leading up to the start of the 2004-05 MISL season. The first preseason match will be Friday, September 24 at 7 p.m. at Du Burns Arena. The Blast is currently in training camp and will practice Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. at Du Burns leading up to the team's first game, in San Diego on October 9 against the Sockers.

Tickets for Friday night's game will be available for $5 at Du Burns, beginning at 6 p.m. when the doors open to the public. The Blast and KiXX will play each other again just four days later, on Tuesday, September 28 at Tri-State Sports in located in Aston, Pa. Tri-State Sports is the practice facility for the KiXX. Tickets for the game on the 28th are available by calling the KiXX office at 1-888-888-KiXX.

"It's great that the Blast is willing to do this for the Brian Hunt Memorial Fund," said Mike Woodard, Sports Facility Director of Du Burns Arena. "The money will go towards soccer games, youth recreation groups and other soccer-related activities. The Blast is one of three or four sources of income for the Brian Hunt Fund and the money is put to great causes in the Baltimore community."

The preseason games against the KiXX will mark the first time that Baltimore 's newly signed players, defenders Scott Schweitzer and Adilson De Lima and goalkeeper Martin Konig will take the field for the Blast. They will join Denison Cabral, Lee Tschantret, Danny Kelly, P.J. Wakefield, Giuliano Celenza, Billy Nelson, Tarik Walker, Chile Farias, David Bascome and the rest of the Blast squad in preparing for the upcoming season.

All Blast practices during the preseason and regular season are open to the public, with no admission fee. Practice times and location are subject to change; please call the Blast office to confirm. The Blast will play its first home game of the 2004-05 season on Saturday, October 16 at 1st Mariner Arena against the San Diego Sockers.

Blast season tickets and mini-plans are on sale now by calling the Blast office at 410-73-BLAST. Single-game tickets will go on sale on October 1. Tickets will cost $20 and $17 and will be available at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and can also be ordered by calling TicketMaster at 410-547-SEAT or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
