Chicago Steel News Release
GENEVA, ILLINOIS - For the first time since he guided the Chicago Steel to a Clark Cup title in 2017, current Team USA U18 Head Coach Dan Muse will make his return to Fox Valley Ice Arena on Saturday against the Steel.
"I will always have wonderful memories from my time working for the Chicago Steel, my time living there and being a part of the community," said Muse. "It was an extremely exciting time to be a part of the relocation to Fox Valley Ice Arena and to work for Larry Robbins as he started his ownership of the Steel. It's a time that my family and I look back on with great memories. I was honored to work with amazing people and players."
Following the Clark Cup title, Muse was hired by the Nashville Predators as an assistant coach on July 21, 2017 after two seasons behind the bench for the Steel. During his tenure with the Steel, Chicago compiled a 65-43-6-6 regular season record. In 2016-2017, the Steel set team records (at the time) for wins (38) and points (81) while qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons and winning their first Eastern Conference title. Chicago went on to defeat Sioux City in five games to capture its first Clark Cup Championship.
In Nashville, Muse was a part of two Central Division champion teams, including the 2017-2018 Presidents' Trophy-winning team that set a franchise record, 117 points in the standings (53-18-11).
Muse was named Head Coach of the United States National Team Development Program U18 team on August 27, 2020, the 14th head coach in NTDP U18 history.
"During his time in Chicago, Dan worked tirelessly to not only help the Steel reach new heights, but to lay the foundation for future organizational success," said Steel President Dan Lehv. "We're thrilled to see him back behind the bench as a head coach."
Saturday will mark the first of three scheduled visits for Team USA U18 to Fox Valley Ice Arena this season (Mar. 27 & Mar. 28).
"I am very excited to be returning to the Fox Valley Ice Arena and seeing it from a different vantage point on the opposite bench." said Muse.
