JACKSON, Tenn. (June 21, 2013) - A complete-game start from the BayBears's Andrew Chafin propelled Mobile (2-1, 40-31) over the Jackson Generals (1-2, 30-38), 5-1 in the third game of the series. Mobile out-hit the Generals 9-7 in the win, as both teams left six runners on base for the night.

The BayBears got out to an early lead, jumping on Generals' starter James Gillheeney (L, 3-2, 2.97) in the second inning. The three-run inning started with back-to-back walks and included an RBI double from Nick Ahmed, who also came around to score in the frame. Gillheeney worked his way out of further trouble with one of two double plays he produced and settled in smoothly after. Gillheeny gave up three earned runs and only five hits. The two walks got him into trouble, but the lefty also struck out four through six innings of work.

Offensively, the Generals went quietly on Friday night. Steven Proscia (1-3, 2B, R, K) led off the third with a double and came around to score on a sac fly off the bat of Denny Almonte (0-3, RBI, K). Julio Morban (2-4) added another multi-hit game, as James Jones (1-4, 2B, K) and John Hicks (2-4, 2B, K) also added doubles, but Jackson's seven hits could not get the job done against Chafin.

The BayBears' lefthander recorded season-highs with his nine innings and eight strikeouts. Chafin gave up one free pass and seven hits. Chafin used the slider sparingly and pumped the fastball in for a lot of strikes. Effectively switching speeds and pitches, Chafin kept the Generals' bats at bay.

The BayBears grabbed two insurance runs in the eighth and effectively put the game out of reach, as the Generals are now 0-24 when trailing after eight innings. Both teams had their chances, but Jackson ended up going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position while Mobile was 4-for-12 in the same category.

It has the makeup to be a great pitching matchup tomorrow night in Jackson. Chance Ruffin (3-2, 3.15) will start for the Generals and Diamonbacks No. 3 overall prospect Archie Bradley (5-2, 1.50) gets the nod for the BayBears. The game will begin at 6:05 p.m. (CT) and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio, TuneIn Radio App. and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
