Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - Chad Bell tossed eight scoreless innings and Zach Cone powered a two-run home run in the seventh to help the Frisco RoughRiders defeat the San Antonio Missions, 3-0, on Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Bell (7-12) picked up his seventh win of the season in the stellar performance. The left-hander allowed three hits, one walk, and struck out seven. Bell tossed 72 strikes on 104 pitches in his longest outing of the season.

Leading 1-0, Cone added insurance in the seventh with his second homer of the year. Trever Adams led off with a single to right and Cone clobbered a ball over the Diamond Deck in left field to put Frisco on top 3-0. The outfielder went two-for-three on the night with the long ball and a double.

The Riders took an early advantage with a first inning score. Guilder Rodriguez reached on an infield single and stole second base to get into scoring position. Lewis Brinson knocked him in on a RBI-double to give Frisco the 1-0 lead.

Aaron Northcraft (1-2) allowed only one run, but dropped the decision for San Antonio. The right-hander threw five innings and allowed five hits.

Jesus Pirela took over for Bell in the ninth and worked a perfect frame to pick up his first save of the year and finish off the shutout victory for Frisco. The Riders took three out of four against the Missions in the home stand.

The Riders travel to Midland and Corpus Christi for their final road trip of 2015. Victor Payano gets the nod in Saturday night's 7:00 p.m. start against the RockHounds. Frisco returns to Dr Pepper Ballpark on September 5 for the final home stand of the season.
