Club de Foot Montreal News Release

TORONTO, Ontario - After stringing together a fourth straight win on Saturday across all competitions against Orlando, CF Montréal will play the first of two games this week against rival Toronto FC on Tuesday night. The team will first travel to BMO Field to play its Canadian Championship quarterfinal match at 7pm (OneSoccer, BPM Sports, TSN 690).

The Montrealers are 5-7-4 against Toronto in the Canadian Championship with 17 goals scored and 20 goals allowed. The Bleu-blanc-noir will be looking for their first win at BMO Field in this tournament, having never pulled off a result since entering MLS (0-7-1).

Among active CF Montréal players, striker Sunusi Ibrahim continues to lead the team in goals scored (4) in this competition. He also remains the only player in the Club's history to have scored a hat trick in the Canadian Championship.

While Montreal has been on a positive run of games since mid-April, it has been a struggle for Toronto in recent games. With only one win in their last seven, specifically a 1-0 victory over New York City FC on April 29 at BMO Field, TFC will be eager to take a step closer toward reclaiming the national title, an honour they have not achieved since the 2020 season.

In the other quarterfinal matches, Forge FC (CPL) will face Atlético Ottawa (CPL), York United (CPL) will face Vancouver Whitecaps FC (MLS), while Pacific FC (CPL) will face semi-professional club TSS Rovers (League1 BC).

The winner of the 2023 Canadian Championship will lift the Voyageurs Cup and qualify for the 2024 Concacaf Champions League. The Concacaf Champions League winner will also automatically qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup.
