Josef Martínez Named to MLS Team of the Matchday

Inter Miami CF forward and former Landon Donovan MLS MVP Josef Martínez has been named to the starting XI of Team of the Matchday for Matchday 11 of the 2023 MLS regular season. The Venezuelan international secured his spot on the team after a historic night that saw him tally two goals in 33 minutes, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 MLS regular season goals in the process. Thanks to his remarkable milestone, Inter Miami was able to secure a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United at DRV PNK Stadium.

Martinez netted his first goal for the Club in the 59th minute with his first touch of the match, stepping up to convert a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner after entering as a second-half substitute.

The talented goalscorer then struck again in the 75th minute, sliding and rolling the ball towards the far post, beating the keeper from a tight angle for his second goal of the night. The second goal was a historic one, making him the fastest player to score 100 regular season goals, reaching the mark in 142 matches.

El Rey makes his first appearance in an MLS Team of the Matchday in the 2023 regular season. Martínez is the seventh Inter Miami player that has been named on an MLS TOTM so far this season, while head coach Phil Neville has featured as well.
