Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - Extending its unbeaten streak to five games, CF Montréal drew 2-2 against Inter Miami CF on Saturday night at Stade Saputo.
The Montrealers took the lead twice thanks to Romell Quioto's tenth (5') and 11th (21') goals of the season, but Miami was able to equalize each time via Gonzalo Higuain (6') and Emerson Rodriguez (79').
Having picked up a point, Montreal is in third place in the East with 40 points.
Up next for Montreal is a trip to Texas on Saturday night against the Houston Dynamo FC at PNC Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9pm EDT (TVA Sports, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
GAME NOTES
-Quioto became the fourth player in Club history to reach the 10-goal mark in a single MLS season. He has eight goals in his last eight starts.
-Defender Joel Waterman played his 50th career game with the Club.
Post-game comments from head coach Wilfried Nancy, Samuel Piette and Romell Quioto are available here.
WILFRIED NANCY
"Miami is not the same team from last year. At times they kept us off balance in the first half. We had a hard time setting up. I have regrets about the second goal because the decision making was not good. But for the rest, we played a good second half. I would have liked us to be more decisive when we found the players between the lines."
SAMUEL PIETTE
"Firstly, the result is disappointing when you look at the pace of the game. It's a draw that feels like a loss, but at the same time we remain 10 points above the playoff line and we remain undefeated in five games."
ROMELL QUIOTO
"I'm very happy and proud to have reached the 10-goal mark this season. I always said that I came to Montreal to work and that I was not going to let the Club down. I will continue to work to do what is best for the team."
