Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA (September 29, 2006) - The Johnstown Chiefs today announced the signing of center Jean Desrochers. In 72 regular season games with the Chiefs in 2005-06, the Dalhousie, Qc.-native scored 19 goals and 23 assists for a total of 43 points, and contributed two goals in five Kelly Cup Playoff games. The 26 year-old Desrochers is currently attending training camp with the AHL's Springfield Falcons.

"Jean needs to come back and have a big season," said Chiefs head coach Frank Anzalone. "We need someone to step up and produce points. Desrochers showed signs of doing that last year, and it's his time to step up as a lead player and be accountable to the team on the score sheet. He's getting a shot in Springfield right now, and if he ends up back here, we'll be looking forward to him giving us some scoring leadership and helping us win some games."

Now entering his third professional season, Desrochers has scored 38 goals and 57 assists in 144 regular season games with Johnstown, and has one assist in three AHL games with Bridgeport.

The Johnstown Chiefs, "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, begin their 19th season as a member of the ECHL on October 21, 2006 at the Cambria County War Memorial in downtown Johnstown against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Season tickets are currently on sale and may be purchased by calling (814) 539-1799 or 1 (800) SLAPSHOT.
