New England Surge News Release

Worcester, MA. ... Here's a chance to celebrate St. Patick's Day and meet the football players of Worcester's own professional indoor football team of the New England Surge on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Castellana's 90 Harding Street, Worcester, MA. In addition, on hand will also be the PowerSurge Dance Team, the coaches and management, including Roy Lucas, Jr. Owner and Head Coach.

Earlier this week the Surge announced their final player roster with many players returning from the Surge's inaugural season. The New England Surge, a member of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL), can have an active minimum roster of 19 players with 2 additional players on the practice squad in case of in season injuries. Roy Lucas, Jr. states, "I feel very confident that this year's team, which is a combination of our first year veterans like Tyler Grogan, Harold Shaw and others, and our new players that also include experienced athletes some with AF2 experience, will again provide a season of very exciting football." Lucas continues, "And this is a chance for our sponsors, season ticket holders, and media to meet and greet them first hand...and even get an autograph!"

The Surge's first three games starting with Friday March 29, at Flint, Michigan are away. They return for the home opening game at the DCU Center on April 20. In preparation for the season, the New England Surge follow a rigorous practice schedule meeting every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-11:30p.m. The media is welcomed to observe practice sessions and players and coaches are available for interviews.
