Cedar Rapids Sweeps Sky Carp

Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT - The Beloit Sky Carp continued their week-long malaise against the Cedar Rapids Kernels with a 3-1 loss Sunday afternoon.

The crowd of 2,220 happily collected their Poopsie bobbleheads as the Sky Carp continued their offensive struggles. After the game, kids weren't concerned about the on-field struggles as they circled the bases and played catch with their families on the field.

The Sky Carp led 1-0 with two outs in the eighth inning before Yunior Severino unloaded a three-run home run to flip the game's outcome.

Beloit scored its only run of the game in the fourth inning when Dalvy Rosario singled, stole second and third and scored on a grounder by Will Banfield.

Jackson Rose got the start and worked the first four innings without allowing a run, while Matt Given, Josan Mendez and Justin Evans all logged scoreless outings.

The Sky Carp will take the first four days of the week off for the All-Star break before returning to action Friday in Wisconsin.

Beloit will return to ABC Supply Stadium on Tuesday, July 26 against Quad Cities.

The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
