Cavs hold off Butte Daredevils

LAWTON, OKLA- The Oklahoma Cavs beat out the visiting Butte Daredevils 89-83 in front of the largest Cavs crowd this season. Official attendance came in at 2389 Cavs fan for Lawton/Ft. Sill Appreciation night.

The Cavs came out to a slow start trailing the Daredevils 7-0 for with 7 minutes left in first quarter. Head Coach/Guard Odell Bradley led the Daredevils with 31 points, and Forward Martane Freeman added 15 points on the night.

Curtis Haywood lit up the floor in the second quarter scoring 15 of his 19 points to win the quarter by 12 points and to go in to the second half leading by 2 points.

The Cavs and Daredevils went head to head in the third quarter. The Cavs trailed by as many as 4, but managed to lead by one point at the end of the quarter.

Guard Brandon Dean gave the Cavs a boost in the fourth quarter with 2 buckets from behind the arch scoring a total of 14 points.

"Great game. It was a good game. We only had 10 turnovers. In the first quarter, we didn't shoot the ball well, but we played great defense. That was the key to the win," said Head Coach Michael Ray Richardson.

Assistant Coach Greg Minor added, "We didn't play to our standards, but we managed to come away with a win. At some point we will have a break out win, and put together a win streak."

The Oklahoma Cavs will have the chance to do that tomorrow for the second game against the Daredevils. Tip off will be at7:30 p.m.
