Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release

LAWTON, OKLA-The Oklahoma Cavs met Rio Grande Valley Silverados for a third time this week. After two blowout games in Texas, the Silverados were ready to play, but fell short losing 96-94.

Rookie Center Pierre Darden opened the game with a 2-point bucket, but the Silverados responded by keeping the Cavs within a 3-point reach in the first quarter.

The Silverados pulled away in the second quarter leading by as many as 10 points. Forward Curtis Haywood brought the quarter to an end with a bucket and three free-throws to trail only by 3 points at halftime.

Guard Brandon Dean and Forward Shawn Daniels helped the Cavs gain the lead in the third quarter. The Cavs largest lead was 7 points. Haywood led the team in scoring with 22 points, Dean poured in 21, Selvy added 20, and Center Tony Key chipped in 7.

"I thought we played well. Tony Key played well on both ends. He made some great blocks," said Head Coach Michael Ray Richardson. "We turned over the ball at crucial times, but it was a great win."

Tonight's win brings the Cavs win streak to five. They will look to extend it on Saturday against the number one Yakama Sun Kings. Tip off will be 7:30 p.m. at the Great Plains Coliseum. For ticket information, visit www.okcavs.com or call the Cavs office at
