East Kentucky Miners News Release

PIKEVILLE, KY. - East Kentucky shelved a heartbreaking loss suffered to Great Falls earlier in the week and got back in the win column Wednesday night against the Explorers. The Miners vaulted back over the .500 mark, defeating Great Falls 118-112 at the East Kentucky Expo Center and improving to 18-17.

East Kentucky claimed the quarter points 5.5-1.5 in the second meeting with the CBA National Conference member.

"Tonight, we played more consistent and didn't have those three- or four-minute lapses," said East Kentucky Coach Kevin Keathley. "It was very important for us to come out and get this win before heading into the weekend and the two-game home series versus conference leader Minot."

Josh Pace led the Miners with 34 points, eight assists, six rebounds and two steals. Boo Jackson turned in yet another double-double for East Kentucky. Jackson, who has led the CBA in double-doubles for most of the season, scored 28 points and pulled down a game-high 12 points in East Kentucky's home triumph.

Mike Dean added 23 points for the Miners. Mike Crain and Reo Logan also reached double figures for Miners, finishing with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Logan hauled in eight rebounds for the home team.

The Miners outscored Great Falls 32-29 in the opening quarter and carried a 61-60 lead into halftime.

East Kentucky played without point guard Jason McLeish. A former Eastern Kentucky University standout, McLeish sat out Wednesday's game while nursing a deep bone bruise on his right knee.

East Kentucky owned an 80-74 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Marlyn Bryant and Michael Peeples led Great Falls with 22 points apiece.

Junior Burroughs followed with 21 points for the Explorers.

Six different Great Falls players reached double figures in the scoring column. Maurice Carter collected for 13 points in the non-conference game.

Lamont Arrington and Nick Green netted 12 points apiece out of reserve roles for the Explorers.

East Kentucky will return to the Expo Center hardwood in game action on Saturday when CBA American Conference leader Minot visits for an all-important matchup. Tip-off for the East Kentucky-Minot game is set for 7:05 p.m.
