Albany, NY (February 7, 2008) - The Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and NexxNow China have expanded the media rights and terms of their relationship to pursue the global distribution of CBA content.
Two Hundred (200) million Chinese viewers watched the NBA's Houston Rockets/Milwaukee Bucks game Saturday, Feb 2, which is approximately twice the reported 100 million that watched Sunday's Super Bowl, giving further credibility that the 2.3 billion dollar NBA China venture may be worth much more.
The CBA and NexxNow have further forged their relationship with the objective of delivering CBA media content to the 300+ million-fan base that exists in China. "These are very exciting times in the basketball world where media values are clearly being redefined because of the impact China has on the global markets," said Ricardo Richardson, CBA Properties President & CEO, "We will work closely with NexxNow to deliver the prestigious CBA brand worldwide".
"During the last several weeks we (the CBA and NexxNow) have strategize the co-operative ownership and media delivery of a NexxNow CBA team comprised primarily of Chinese players. This team will be placed in a predominant area where the Chinese population is dense. We have identified several areas. The Chinese appetite for basketball is staggering and we feel it will be complimentary to the CBA media portfolio," stated Paul Riley, NexxNow CEO. "The CBA professional basketball brand will be a marquee product offered by NexxNow, to the over 300+ million fan base." Mr. Riley continued, "The CBA is offering its media library of basketball game footage that dates well over 30 years."
The CBA brand has a long-standing tradition and rich basketball history that we are honored to represent. More than 600 NBA players and coaches to include: Phil Jackson, George Karl and Flip Saunders all credit the CBA as their beginning.
