Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release

LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton- Fort Sill Cavalry dominated the night Thursday at the Great Plains Coliseum. The Cavs took the Minot Skyrockets 101-69.

The Cavs had a 30-16 lead at the end of the first quarter. Cavs Coach Micheal Ray Richardson was able to clear his bench early in the second quarter. Every player on the roster had quality playing time tonight.

Cavs forward, Tim Ellis put up a game high 19 points and was almost perfect from the free throw line.

"It was a great win, it was good to get the bench into the game and give the starter's a break so we can come out and do it again tomorrow," Ellis said.

Elvin Mims, Cavs forward, had another great game with his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Five more Cavs scored in double digits tonight, with Brandon Dean putting up 12 points and Darold Crow scoring 11. DeAnthony Bowden, Eddie Smith and Courtney Williams each put up 10 points.

Richardson was pleased with the big win after Sunday's loss to Minot.

"It was a good game, we played good defense," Richardson said.

The good defense was obvious as the Cavs held Ronnie Fields, the league's number four scorer and the Cavs nemesis from Sunday's game, to 6 points.

The Cavs newest player Albert White, who replaced Tony Key, had 4 points, 4 rebounds and was perfect from the free throw line in his first appearance for the Cavs.

Cavs fans were into the game cheering on the players and jeering the referees even when the Cavs were up by 20 points or more.

The Cavs and Skyrockets face off again Friday and Saturday nights at 7:05 p.m. at the Great Plains Coliseum.
