JUPITER, Fla. - The Jupiter Hammerheads shutout the Fort Myers Miracle, 3-0, at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday night.

Miracle starter Sam Clay walked Jupiter lead-off man Jeremias Pineda to start the bottom of the first. With Junior Sosa at the plate, Pineda swiped second base and then advanced to third when Sosa grounded out to second. John Norwood sent a fly ball down the right field line that was caught by Daniel Kihle, but Pineda tagged and scored, 1-0.

The Hammerheads added a run in the second. Avery Romero began the frame with an infield hit then moved to second when Rony Cabrera grounded out to the pitcher. Clay (1-2) struck out Chris Hoo for the second out, but Brian Schales laced an RBI single to center to put Jupiter up 2-0.

In the fifth, Clay's wildness allowed another Jupiter run to come across. With one out, Norwood doubled into left center. Clay then threw back-to-back wild pitches that allowed Norwood to score and push the Jupiter advantage to 3-0.

Clay exited the game after five innings with three runs allowed on seven hits, two walks and six strikeouts.

Jupiter starter Jorgan Cavanerio kept the Miracle off the board through seven innings. Totaling eight strikeouts, Cavanerio (8-11) surrendered just four hits and issued no walks. The Miracle were facing Cavanerio for a fifth time this season and had scored 19 runs in 15.1 innings prior to Saturday night.

Steven Farnworth recorded the final six outs for his second save of the season.
