Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats swept Sunday's doubleheader with a game one walk off 7-6 win and 5-1 victory in game two.
Game one
The Cats (36-22) and Colts (27-28) were invested in a back-and-fourth tilt in game one.
Both teams scored in the first and after the Cats took a 2-1 lead in the second, San Angelo tied it on a Derrick Pyles home run.
Fort Worth took another lead on Cody Bishop's heads up baserunning in the bottom half.
With two outs in the fifth, the Colts took a 5-3 advantage on a Justin Reed double before the Cats tied it with two outs in the seventh and final inning of regulation.
The Colts took an extra-inning lead in the ninth, but the Cats came back and won on Greg Bachman's walkoff sacrifice fly.
Starting pitcher Cole Stephens threw a complete game on 132 pitches and earned the win.
Game two
The Cats jumped ahead on a Bachman two-RBI single in the first inning of game two and never looked back.
The Cats added three more runs in the game compared to the Colts' one.
Starter James Giulietti went six innings and gave up no earned runs in his first start since early June.
Aljay Davis, who, along with pitcher Aaron Wilkerson, will join the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League after Sunday's game, went 0-for-6 in his last game with the team and finishes his season with a .337 batting average.
The Cats wrap up the quick three-game series against the Colts Monday at 7:05 p.m. at historic LaGrave Field.
