Cats Sweep San Angelo with 6-5 Win in Finale

Fort Worth, Texas --- An RBI single by second baseman Kori Melo gave the Fort Worth Cats a 6-5, walk-off victory against the San Angelo Colts Monday night at LaGrave Field.
Melo's game-winning base hit scored centerfielder Cody Bishop from third base. First baseman Mark Sobolewski scored the tying-run when shortstop Ryan Miller was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Colts' closer Alfredo Caballero (2-4) suffered a blown save and the loss. He gave up the tying, and winning run in just 1/3 of an inning pitched.
San Angelo took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, but Fort Worth clawed its way back from the third through the sixth. In that time, the Cats outscored the Colts, 4-1, to tie the game at four.
The Colts regained the lead at 5-4 in the seventh. Centerfielder Justin Reed hit a leadoff double, and then scored on an RBI single by third baseman Buddy Elmore.
For the second time in three games, however, San Angelo's bullpen failed to keep the lead. Cats' reliever Trevor Longfellow (1-1) earned the win by virtue of pitching the top of the ninth.
The win improved Fort Worth to 37-22, while the loss drops San Angelo to 27-29. The Colts have two consecutive off days before starting a four-game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners on Thursday.
Thursday's game at Edinburg Baseball Stadium begins at 7:05 p.m., and can be heard live on 1260 KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.
The Colts conclude their seven-game road trip with a four-game set against the Edinburg Roadrunners from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28. The Colts return home for their last 12-game home stand of the regular season on Tuesday, July 30.
