'Cats take 2 of 3 from Gary Carter's Flyers

Edmonton, AB- In the first game, Cats hurler, Corwin Malone got the start and pitched a solid four innings, only giving up one run in the second inning. However in the fifth, he got in a jam, and gave up five runs. Edmonton was able to tie the game in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded, making it 6-6. With Dave Humen on the mound , Jeff LaRue hit a three run homer to bust the game open, giving the Flyers a five run lead. The 'Cats out hit the Flyers, ten to eight, but the final score was 11-7 for Orange County. Humen picked up the loss.

The second game had a much better start for the 'Cats as they got off to a 2-0 lead, with a home run off their first basemen, Joe Jiannetti. His ninth home run of the season was off of Flyers starter, Robert Cramer. Jeremy Acey then tied the game with a single into right center. It stayed that way until the beginning of the sixth inning, when the 'Cats, Kevin House hit what he thought to be a home run, but was ruled a double bringing in two runs, making it 4-2. 'Cats closer, Pete Sikaras came into the game in the seventh, and with the game on the line, struck out the side. It was Sikaras' 8th save of the season.

Chris Cullen, in his second start of the season, got the win bringing his record to 1-0. Cullen went five strong innings, giving up two runs, and striking out two.

The Cracker-Cats record now sits at 21-19.

The team will bus to Long Beach tomorrow afternoon, for the start of a four game series versus the Armada. First game is on Monday night at 7:05 pm.
