August 3, 2013 - United League Baseball (ULB)
Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats tallied their second shut out in three days on Saturday night as they blanked the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings 5-0 at LaGrave Field.
The game was scoreless through three innings and the Cats (42-26) squandered scoring opportunities in the first and third before driving in two runs on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Fort Worth continued to tack onto their lead, adding runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Starting pitcher Roman Gomez reversed his string of bad luck and earned the win by scattering seven hits, two strikeouts and a walk over six innings of work.
Cameron Monger went 3-for-4 with an RBI sacrifice fly and Ryan Miller finished the game 1-for-2 with an RBI walk and RBI double.
The Cats have now won four games in a row and the WhiteWings' (32-37) losing skid has reached seven in a row.
The Cats' and WhiteWings face off in game two of the four-game series on Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
Tickets to all home games can be purchased by going online to FWCats.com or by calling the ticket office at (817) 332-CATS.
