Cats Offense Jumps on Mainers Pitching to 2-1 on Road Trip

The Cats traveled to face off against the Sanford Mainers at Goodall Park. The offense went to work immediately as Pedone walked to get things started, then back-to-back doubles by Picone and Koperniak pushed 2 across before an out was recorded, Muntz would single him home to complete a 3 run top of the first. Koperniak would later homer in this one to give him a team leading 3 on the season, Shane Muntz would also leave the yard for his first round-tripper of the season on a night that saw him tally 3 hits tonight. The Cats would put up a total of 9 runs on 12 hits in this one and that would be plenty for starter Mason Ronan. Ronan would pitch 5 stellar innings he would walk 6, but struck out 7 and only allowed 3 hits and 1 run on his victorious outing. Joe Guerette would pitch 4 stupendous innings in relief and get the save. He would enter the game and retire the first 9 batters he would see until finally yielding a walk to lead off the 9th the Mainers would put up a fight in the last inning and push two runs across, but the Cats would hold on to get a big win by a final of 9-3. This gives the Cats a 2-1 record on this three-game road trip and with an off day tomorrow they will look to get rejuvenated for the demanding schedule that waits for them on the other side of this off day.
