Cats Can't Sole Blue Sox Pitching in Road Loss

July 30, 2019 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
North Adams SteepleCats News Release

With just 5 games left of the season the Cats played their first of 3 against the Sox to close out the season. New member of the Cats David Redfield got the start and held his own in hi abbreviated 3 innings. Pitching was the story of this one, but sadly for the Cats it would be the dominance on the mound from the home team's starter that would make headlines. Jackson Svete would go 8 and 2/3 of an inning as he authored a 1 run ball game and fell a batter short of a complete game. The only offense for the Cats came in the 9th inning when Matt Koperniak blasted a solo shot over the right-center field fence for he Cats lone run on the game. The team will need to have a short memory after falling by a final of 8-0, as they turn around and have a big match-up in their last home game of the season against the Keene Swampbats. They still hold on to first place, but only by the narrowest of margins.
