Columbus, GA - Bizarre base running plays in the second inning helped the Columbus Catfish (21-27) to a 4-3 win over the Greenville Drive (26-22) Saturday at Golden Park. Two runs scored in the second inning when C Mitch Stachowsky made an errant throw into the outfield.

In the first inning SS Ivan DeJesus singled and moved to second base on a passed ball. 2B Travis Denker singled to right field, moving DeJesus to third base. With two outs 3B Eduardo Perez doubled to left, driving in DeJesus for a 1-0 lead.

Greenville tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second, but Columbus regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame. With one out RF Chris Jensen walked, followed by a double from LF Adam Godwin, putting both runners in scoring position. CF Bridger Hunt then hit into a fielder's choice that led to a run down to put out Jensen at home and leave Godwin and Hunt at third base and second base respectively. On a return throw from the catcher to the pitcher, the ball escaped into the outfield and Godwin and Hunt raced in for a 3-1 lead.

The Drive tied the game with two runs in the fourth inning. Columbus scored the eventual game winner in the fifth inning when Denker's sacrifice fly scored Godwin.

RHP Arismendy Castillo (7-4) gave up three runs on five hits and no walks to get the win. RHP Ramon Troncoso earned his thirteenth save. LHP Ryan Phillips (2-6) gave up four runs, two earned, and suffered the loss.

Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled because electrical issues with a light tower left an area of the field poorly lit. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning at 2:00pm Sunday. For tickets or more information call (706) 571-8866 or visit www.ColumbusCatfish.com.
