Indiana Fever News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings will be the featured guest this weekend on "One on One with Mark Montieth," an hour-long interview show hosted by 1070 The Fan radio personality and former Indianapolis Star sports reporter Mark Montieth. This week's show airs on 1070 The Fan this Sunday, Sept. 20 at 11:00 a.m., and again on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m.
In her ninth WNBA season out of the University of Tennessee, Catchings has been a perennial MVP candidate in the WNBA. Catchings currently leads the Fever into its fifth straight WNBA Playoffs appearance which begins Thursday, Sept. 17. Catchings has been much more than a basketball player, however. She launched her Indianapolis-based Catch The Stars Foundation in December 2004, and she has been at the forefront of civic and charitable activities throughout the city.
Montieth's one-hour interview with Catchings will chronicle her childhood as the daughter of NBA star Harvey Catchings; how she overcame a hearing disability as a young girl; and how she ventured to Tennessee, won an NCAA championship, and landed in the WNBA while becoming one of the top women's basketball players in the world.
Since his show debuted in May, Montieth has featured such local sports legends as John Wooden, Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson, Billy Keller, Scott Skiles, Don Fischer, Joe McConnell, Mark Boyle, Bob "Slick" Leonard, Rick Mount, Hallie Bryant and George McGinnis. Catchings will be the first female to be featured. Archives of the show may be at 1070thefan.com.
