Cary Runs Away With CBL Title

Cary, NC: At a packed and lively Young Center on Friday night, the Cary Invasion (12 - 1) beat the CBL South Division representative the Florida Flight (Orlando) by a score of 131-101 to win the Continental Basketball League Championship. The Invasion jumped out to an early lead of over 20 points in the first half and led by 15 points at halftime. The Flight cut the lead to 11 points in the 3rd quarter, but the Invasion never trailed in the game, and the game was never really in doubt. Points came from all 10 Invasion players, and 7 Cary players scored in double figures. Cary out-rebounded Florida 50 to 29.

Invasion guard Freddie Little led all scorers with 26 points in the win. Charles Ward added 22 points for Cary, and former NCCU star Jonathan Moore had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Invasion. Cordell Jeanty had 25 points in the losing effort for the Flight. Freddie Little was named Player of the Game and league MVP. Invasion Coach MarQus Johnson was named CBL Coach of the Year.
