Carolina RailHawks Release 2007 Schedule
January 25, 2007 - USL First Division (USL-1)
North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, N.C. - The Carolina RailHawks released their schedule for the 2007 United Soccer Leagues First Division season today, giving fans a look at 14 of the home games that will comprise the team's inaugural year.
Every USL-1 team will visit SAS Stadium at least once in 2007, with regional rival Virginia Beach Mariners and 2006 point leaders Montreal Impact each making two trips to Cary.
Another highlight of the schedule is the July 3 match against the defending USL-1 champions Vancouver Whitecaps, continuing the tradition of soccer at SAS Stadium during the Fourth of July holiday. There will be a fireworks display immediately following the game, which kicks off at 8:00 p.m.
"We're happy to announce the schedule for our first season, and we're excited that there is so much great soccer planned for this year," said Chris Economides, President and General Manager of the RailHawks. "The thing that we're the most ecstatic about is that the vast majority of our home games are on Friday or Saturday nights. This makes it easy for our fans to come and see the RailHawks play throughout the season. Now that the schedule has been released, sports fans across the Triangle can make plans to come and see all the action at SAS Stadium this spring and summer."
Mini-plans are on sale now starting as low as $42. Family-friendly, flexible kick packs and season seats start as low as $140 for all 18 home games during the inaugural season. For ticket information, call a RailHawks' ticket representative at (919) 859-KICK or visit the RailHawks' website at www.carolinarailhawks.com. Individual game tickets will be available, toward the end of March, for purchase at the SAS Stadium box office or by calling TicketMaster at (919) 834-4000.
Other matches of note include games against regional foes Charleston Battery (May 19) and Atlanta Silverbacks (August 17); and perennial USL-1 powerhouse Rochester Raging Rhinos on June 8. In addition, the team is working on a radio broadcast package.
"We are in the process of finalizing a deal to air all RailHawks games, home and away, on the radio," Economides said. "The broadcasts will be a great way to follow the RailHawks whenever you can't make it to a match."
The remainder of the 18-game home schedule will be filled out with U.S. Open Cup and exhibition matches. Opponents for those matches, as well as a list of other promotions and specialty nights at SAS Stadium, will be released at a later date.
Full details of the schedule can be found on the team's website, www.carolinarailhawks.com
