
Carolina RailHawks Partner with Food Bank to Fight Hunger

Cary, NC (Friday, September 12, 2008) - The Carolina RailHawks have announced a partnership with the Food Book of Central and Eastern North Carolina for the month of September. When fans donate two or more items in the month of September they will receive a ticket voucher good for $5.00 off each ticket purchased to either Carolina RailHawks home matches in September.
September is "Hunger Action Month" throughout the United States and the Food Bank needs our help to fight hunger in the Triangle. All food items will be accepted except glass. A most needed list includes, but is not limited to: canned meals (stews, soups, etc.), peanut butter, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, rice, pasta, and dried beans. Also needed are hygiene items that include toothpaste, shaving items, and soap along with infant products such as diapers, wipes, formula and infant cereal (please no loose glass or plastic jars of baby food due to health regulations).
Last year the RailHawks donated 220 lbs. of non-perishable food items to the Food Bank of North Carolina and they hope to do the same as the 2008 USL-1 season winds down.
Donations will be accepted at three locations - The main branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, 3808 Tarheel Drive, Raleigh, NC, 27609; the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina at Durham, 708 Gilbert Street, Durham, NC, 27701 and at the LGFCU Box Office at WakeMed Soccer Park, 101 Soccer Park Drive, Cary, NC, 27511.
The RailHawks have two remaining home games in September as they look to qualify for the USL-1 playoffs. The RailHawks host Rochester on Sunday, September 14 and Portland on Saturday, September 20.
