North Carolina FC News Release
Cary, NC (July 14, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks today announced that they are actively seeking an additional investor(s) to participate in the next, exciting phase of growth. The team is pursuing an aggressive strategy to expand their business operations that calls for increased sales and marketing staff and a bold marketing campaign to drive ticket and sponsorship revenues.
The RailHawks ownership is looking to add depth to its investment team to help facilitate this plan and execute the growth strategy.
"We see great potential for the long-term growth of professional soccer in the Triangle," said RailHawks majority owner and former Senior Vice President with Cisco Systems Selby Wellman. "My partners and I are actively seeking a community leader who shares our values and vision to join our ownership group."
Now in their fourth season, the Carolina RailHawks are the primary tenant at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, one of the top soccer-specific venues in the country.
Soccer is the fastest growing sport in the U.S., having more youth players than all other sports combined. The Triangle area, in particular, is home to more than 25 soccer clubs and approximately 20,000 registered players.
"Investing in the RailHawks represents much more than potential financial upside through long-term asset appreciation," said Bob Young a current partner in the Railhawks, founder of Red Hat, and owner of the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the Canadian Football league. "Contributing to the economic growth and enhanced quality of life in the community, as well as watching your investment perform on the field are unique attributes that few other investments can afford."
The search for an engaged, local partner commences immediately. Interested parties should contact the RailHawks' Vice President of Corporate Development Peter Sciandra at (919) 459-8149.
The Carolina RailHawks are a member of the United States Soccer Federation Division-2 Professional League, which consists of 12 teams located in markets throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The RailHawks, founded in 2006, play their home matches at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
