North Carolina FC News Release
The Carolina RailHawks beat the Charleston Battery on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 4,257 fans. This was the second visit of the Battery to SAS Soccer Park in Cary and the match was also a fixture valid for the Southern Derby Cup.
The final score was 2-0 in favor of the Carolina RailHawks as the home team dominated most of the play. The Carolina RailHawks now lead the Southern Derby Cup with six points over the three points for Charleston and zero for the Atlanta Silverbacks
The Carolina RailHawks will face Bavarian SC, an amateur team from Milwaukee, in the 2nd round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup at SAS Soccer Park in Cary on Tuesday June 26th at 7:30 PM. Should the RailHawks advance in the cup they are poised to face the reigning US Open Cup champions, the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer on July 15th in Cary. The RailHawks return to USL-1 league play on Tuesday July 3rd when they will host the USL-1 champions, the Vancouver Whitecaps.
