
Cards lose to Ironbirds

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the Cardinals were swept in a two- game set by the Aberdeen Ironbirds (Baltimore Orioles), 6-3. Tuesdays loss was the teams third straight overall. Josh Potter (1-0) was the winning pitcher for the Ironbirds, while Dennis Dove (0-1) received the loss for the Cardinals. Brandon Spillers finished the game, to earn his second straight save.
Jarrett Hoffpauir led the Cardinals offense by slugging his 2nd home run of the season to deep left in the 6th inning. Kevin House scored on a wild pitch in the 5th after being hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Jacob Mullinax also scored in the 5th after being driven in on a Kyle Boyer ground out. Casey Grimm also chipped in with a 2-hit performance, his 2nd consecutive multi-hit game.
The Cardinals travel to Batavia for a three-game set with the Muckdogs beginning on Wednesday. They are back in action at Skylands Park beginning on Saturday, June 26 when the Cards open a three-game series with Auburn. On Saturday, it is Disability Awareness Day sponsored by D.A.W.N. and there will be a calendar giveaway. Post game is family catch on the field. Sunday, Tri-Co Federal Credit Union & The Daily Record sponsor a seat cushion giveaway, there is a special welcome to St. Claires Hospital Employees and post game is kids race around the bases. On Monday, kids eat free sponsored by KFC and the New Jersey Herald.
