JUPITER, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals captured their sixth consecutive series, after starter Cory Meacham dazzled the Daytona Cubs in a 6-1 victory at Roger Dean Stadium. The win moves the Cardinals back into second place ahead of the Cubs in the Florida State League's Eastern Division race.

Meacham (4-3) surrendered just one run over 7 1/3 innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out six. He rebounded nicely from his last start against Lakeland, when he was lasted just 4 innings on August 15th.

The Cardinals never trailed putting up runs in four different innings starting in the first. Lead-off man Sean Danielson singled to lead off the frame and later scored on a passed ball that followed a Colby Rasmus strike out. Danielson finished the afternoon, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Daytona starter Ryan Bicondoa (1-2) picked up his second loss of the season, getting knocked out of the contest in the sixth inning, after allowing five runs (three earned). Bicondoa was making his fifth start of the season since being signed from an independent team called the North Shore Spirit.

Cardinals' reliever Brian Stitt inherited two runners, taking over for Meacham in the eighth inning. He allowed one run to score in the inning and finished out the Cubs in the ninth.

The Cardinals have won 16 out of their last 20 games and will welcome the first-place St. Lucie Mets to Roger Dean Stadium tomorrow, for the first of a three-game series ending on Wednesday.
