Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

Jupiter, FL - The Palm Beach Cardinals were limited to just two hits and were kept off the scoreboard for the second straight game, falling to the Bradenton Marauders 4-0 on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Stadium. The Cardinals (6-7) dropped all three games in the series and have lost four straight overall.

John Kuchno (2-1) tossed a two-hit shutout through six innings for the Marauders and Thomas Harlan and Robby Rowland didn't allow a hit in three innings of relief to preserve the combination shutout.

The Cardinals haven't scored a run in 20 innings, spanning three games - the team's longest drought of the year. Palm Beach is batting .132 (9-for-68) as a team during the stretch.

Jacob Wilson and Jesus Montero each recorded a single on the night for the Birds' only two hits.

Michael Mayers (1-2) allowed four runs on eight hits, walked one, and fanned three over six innings for the Cardinals in his third start of the season. Corey Baker and Sam Tuivailala didn't allow a hit over three scoreless innings in relief of Mayers. Tuivailala struck out the side in the ninth and now has 11 strikeouts in 5.1 scoreless innings this season for Palm Beach.

The Marauders (8-5) struck quickly with two runs in the first inning. Adam Frazier singled to lead off the game and later scored on a Cardinal error. Jordan Steranka drove in the second run on a sacrifice fly to give Bradenton an early 2-0 lead.

Steranka and Max Moroff hit back-to-back doubles for the Marauders in the fourth inning to tack on a run and a Josh Bell RBI triple in the fifth rounded out the scoring at 4-0.

Neither Breyvic Valera nor Charlie Tilson recorded a hit for the Cardinals, snapping their impressive hitting streaks. Valera finished with a 12-game streak and Tilson had hit safely in 10 straight games - the two longest streaks in the Florida State League this year.

The Cardinals will host the Charlotte Stone Crabs for a three-game series starting Thursday night. RH Joe Cuda (0-1, 9.00) will start for Palm Beach against LH Bruedlin Suero (0-1, 8.22) for Charlotte. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on www.palmbeachcardinals.com.
