Captains Rodriguez and Kaminsky Sweep Weekly League Awards

SHREVEPORT, La.---Captains infielder Andres Rodriguez was named American Association Player of the Week, while starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky took Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.

Rodriguez, a member of Shreveport-Bossier since 2009, hit .433 (13-30) over his past seven games, with hits in each game. He blasted four home runs and picked up 13 RBIs for the week. His week was highlighted with a two-home run, five RBI night Aug. 20 in the Captains 10-1 win over Ft. Worth. It was Rodriguez's second multi-home run game of the month. He has a whopping six home runs and 20 RBIs since Aug. 10. The resident of Miami, Fla. is batting .332 this season with a team-leading 15 homers and 71 RBIs.

Kaminsky, a 23 year-old righthander from Fostoria, Ohio threw his third straight terrific outing for Shreveport-Bossier on Aug. 21. He picked up his third win in as many starts as a member of the Captains, going six innings and allowing two earned runs and seven hits while walking one and striking out seven in the Captains 6-5 win over the Cats. In two starts this past week, the former Indians prospect allowed three earned runs in 13 innings while walking three and striking out 13. Kaminsky is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA since being acquired via a trade with El Paso earlier this month. He has allowed four earned runs in 20 innings while walking four and striking out 17.
