Lincoln 2, Winnipeg 1
The first inning was all Lincoln needed to edge Winnipeg, and after eight scoreless frames, the Saltdogs came away with a 2-1 win against the Goldeyes at Haymarket Park. Winnipeg scored in the top of the first inning when left fielder Jon Weber batted in right fielder Kody Kaiser, but first baseman Phil Hawke and third baseman Curt Smith had back-to-back hits for the Saltdogs in the bottom of the frame to give Lincoln a 2-1 lead. Winnipeg and Lincoln each collected seven and five more hits respectively, but neither team scored again in the game. Smith led Lincoln with two hits, one run and one RBI in three at-bats, while Kaiser had two hits and one run for the Goldeyes. Jino Gonzalez, now a perfect 6-0 on the season, earned the win by allowing seven hits, one run and striking out five in seven innings pitched.
Wichita 7, Gary SouthShore 2
Wichita racked up 12 hits in seven innings to top Gary SouthShore 7-2 at Lawrence Durmont Stadium. After a scoreless first inning, Gary SouthShore got on the board in the top of the second when first baseman Mike Rohde hit a sacrifice fly to left field. In the bottom of the frame, center fielder Mitch Einerston hit a two-run homer to give Wichita the lead. Wichita scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the seventh, while the RailCats were only able to add one more run during the remainder of the game. Two different Wingnuts had three hits, and left fielder Mike Conroy led Wichita with three hits, one run and one RBI in four at-bats. Right fielder Cristian Guerrero chipped in two hits, two runs and one RBI for Gary SouthShore. Junior Guerra, now 8-3 on the season, earned the win by allowing six hits, two runs and striking out two in eight innings pitched.
Shreveport-Bossier 6, Fort Worth 5
Fort Worth made an eighth inning attempt to come back from a three-run deficit, but Shreveport-Bossier held on to its early lead to edge the Cats 6-5 at Fair Grounds Field. The Captains scored three runs in the first inning with back-to-back hits and a fielder's choice, and Shreveport-Bossier added one more in the third when catcher Brian Peterson batted in left fielder Chad Gabriel. Fort Worth scored its first run in the fourth and the Cats added another in the fifth before they tried to complete the comeback in the eighth inning, but it wasn't enough to sink the captains. Center fielder Robert Perry led Shreveport-Bossier with three hits, one run and two RBI in four at-bats, while four different Cats registered multiple hits in the game. Alex Kaminsky, now 3-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing seven hits, two runs and striking out six in six innings pitched.
Kansas City 22, Amarillo 4
Kansas City scored 10 runs alone in the first inning and racked up 27 total hits to beat Amarillo 22-4 at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium. Kansas City scored 10 runs on seven hits, including two home runs, in the first inning, and the T-Bones scored at least one run in each of the next three frames. Lee Cruz hit a home run to get Amarillo on the board in the fourth inning, and the Sox scored three more in the fourth. After adding one more run in the sixth, Kansas City scored six runs on seven hits in the seventh inning, and the T-Bones cruised to victory. Nine different T-Bones recorded at least one hit in the game, and center fielder Keanon Simon lead Kansas City with five hits, four runs and two RBI in seven at-bats. Shortstop Jose Duran batted in five runs for the T-Bones. Devin Anderson, now 7-7 on the season, earned the win by allowing seven hits, four runs and striking out four in five innings pitched.
Sioux City 7, Sioux Falls 6 (10 innings)
After Sioux Falls caught up with a six-run ninth inning, Sioux City scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and the winning run in the bottom of the 10th frame to top Sioux Falls 7-6 at Lewis & Clark Park. Sioux City scored in four of eight frames leading up to the ninth inning and took a 5-0 lead against the Pheasants. In the top of the ninth, Sioux Falls took the lead back by scoring six runs, but Sioux City struck again in the bottom of the frame to bring the game to extra innings. The Explorers recorded 15 total hits while the Pheasants had 11, and right fielder Derek Schermerhorn led Sioux City with three hits and two runs in five at-bats. Three different Pheasants had multiple hits in the game, and third baseman Kevin Carby chipped in three hits, two RBI and one run in five at-bats. Jon Plefka, now 1-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing no hits, no runs and striking out one in one inning pitched.
Grand Prairie 10, El Paso 1
After a slow start, Grand Prairie scored several late-game runs in order to top El Paso 10-1 at Cohen Stadium. Grand Prairie scored its first run in the top of the first inning when designated hitter Joey Gomes batted in second baseman David Espinosa, but the AirHogs didn't score again until the fourth inning. Grand Prairie scored two runs in the fourth, three runs in the sixth and four in the eighth to top El Paso, and the Diablos' sole run in the fifth proved not to be enough. Catcher Zane Chavez led Grand Prairie with four hits and three runs in four at-bats, while left fielder Brian Joynt chipped in two hits and one run for El Paso. Lance Janke, now 5-3 on the season, earned the win by allowing nine hits, one run and striking out six in eight innings pitched.
