
Captains Announce 2010 Schedule

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains, the Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, have announced the home and away schedule for the 2010 regular season. 2010 will mark the Captains first year in the Midwest League after spending their first seven years in the South Atlantic League. The Captains will open its 70-game home schedule in Eastlake on Thursday, April 8 at 6:30 PM against the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
The Captains will be in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League and will host division rivals West Michigan (MI), Fort Wayne (IN), Great Lakes (MI), Dayton, Bowling Green (KY), South Bend (IN) and Lansing (MI). Non-divisional opponents Beloit (WI), Wisconsin, Burlington (IA), and Peoria (IL) will also visit Lake County for the first time. The Captains will travel to Clinton (IA), Kane County (IL), Quad City (IA) and Cedar Rapids (IA) as well as their divisional foes.
The Captains will play 11 Friday and Saturday home games during the season, and will host 15 games in July and 17 games in August.
The History of the Midwest League dates back to 1947 when it began operating as the Class D Illinois State League in 1947. The league changed its name to the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League in 1949. In 1956, it became the Midwest League. The league has had 14 teams since 1998 and when the Captains and Bowling Green Hot Rods join the league in 2010, the league will have a history-high 16 teams.
The Captains plan to continue to host Fireworks Spectaculars after most Friday and Saturday night games throughout the Summer months, giveaway several premium promotional items and host numerous theme nights, including the popular weeknight food specials. A more detailed promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
