Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
GREENVILLE, SC- The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that the team has re-signed team captain T.J. Reynolds for the 2012-2013 season. Reynolds will be entering his 11th season in professional hockey.
"Greenville is a great city with great fans. The Road Warriors were my first choice for where I wanted to play next season." said Reynolds who has been with the organization since its move to Greenville. "Knowing some of the players we have coming back, and some of the new guys coming in, I'd consider anything less than a championship next season a disappointment."
Reynolds, a native of Kitchener Ontario, has captained the Road Warriors' the last two seasons. In 71 games last season, Reynolds tallied one goal and nine assists. His lone goal came in the Road Warriors' 3-1 win over rival Gwinnett Gladiators on January 13th, 2012. The 220 lb defensemen also posted a team-leading 189 penalty minutes, seventh most in the ECHL. Reynolds played in his 500th professional game on December 22nd against the Reading Royals.
"T.J. is an outstanding leader on and off the ice. He is a true Professional," said Road Warriors' Coach Dean Stork. "He sticks up for teammates and plays a hard nose defensive style game. If you are going to battle T.J. Reynolds one-on-one in the corners you better be ready to pay a price. The city of Greenville should be very excited to see him wear that Road Warriors jersey again for his third season."
Reynolds now becomes the eighth player signed by the Road Warriors for the 2012-13 Season. He joins forwards Brendan Connolly, Brandon Wong and Tim Coffman as returnees from last year's squad. Forward Scott Pitt, one of the leading scorers on last year's Kelly Cup Champion Florida Everblades, signed with the Road Warriors in July. Also signing in July were rookie defensemen Edwin Shea and Brock Shelgren, along with goalie Bryan Hince. Hince played a month in Greenville last season, posting a 5-0 record, before being traded to the Idaho Steelheads.
