Edmonton, AB - The Capitals (17-13), behind the strong pitching performance of starter, Kris Honel, dominated the Long Beach Armada (10-14) in a 5-1 win. Caps hitters had twelve base hits off Jose Lima.

Honel (2-3), who has had difficulty in getting loose prior to starts in Edmonton, began the game by throwing six straight pitches for balls and walking the first two hitters. Third place hitter, J.J. Sherrill then hit a line drive back to Honel who made the play and doubled up Armada base runner Omar Bramasco for the first two outs. Honel then struck out Long Beach's clean-up hitter, Casey Garrison to bring the crowd to their feet as he retired the side.

"(Catcher) Matt (Ceriani) was calling a great game back there and I put my trust in him. He allows me to relax and just throw strikes," said Honel about bearing down on the mound. "I was a little shaky the first few innings, but then I got into it and just ran with it."

From then on, Honel was cruising, finishing after eight innings pitched while scattering six hits and striking out eight Armada batters. Most importantly, he managed to limit Long Beach to only one more free pass after the first inning. Honel out-pitched former Major Leaguer, Jose Lima (1-4), who took the loss for Long Beach.

"To be honest, I don't really look at him any differently than other people I face," Honel shared about opposing an ex-MLB All-Star pitcher. "I don't really get caught up in what he's done. I just worry about getting out there and getting off the field as soon as possible."

Offensively, six Caps hitters had two hits apiece and Marcus Nettles scored two runs. Nettles has now pulled even with Jorge Cortes and Darryl Brinkley for the team lead in runs scored with twenty-three. Norm Hutchins added his third home run of the season.
