
Caps Set for Friday Home Game with Youngstown, Saturday Battle at Chicago

The 10-3-1 Madison Capitols are coming off a weekend road split with the Youngstown Phantoms. Those two eastern conference foes will meet for the fifth time this season tomorrow night at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena. The Caps will then hit the road on Saturday to play league leader, the Chicago Steel.
Madison owns the season series with with the Phantoms 3-1 and took the lone meeting with Chicago 3-2 in overtime.
The Capitols own a league leading plus-22 goal differential. Their 63 goals scored this season is second only to Chicago who has scored just one more goal, in three more games played. The Capitols 8-2-0 stretch over their last 10 games played is tied for the best stretch in league with Tri-City and Lincoln.
The Caps went 3/7 on the power play last weekend to improve their overall percentage to 24.6%. Good for third best in the USHL. That will meet Youngstown's 14th ranked penalty kill and Chicago's 7th ranked PK.
Taking out neutral site games, the Capitols are tied with Chicago for the best in the league with six wins. While away from Capitol Ice, Madison is a healthy 4-1-0.
The Capitols boast eight players who are double digit's in points. They are led by captain Jack Horbach with 15 points. In 14 games played, the Wisconsin commit is averaging 1.07 ppg. On the blueline, Gopher commit Luke Mittelstadt has pieced together an impressive line so far with five goals and nine helpers.
Between the pipes, The Caps have turned to Omaha commit Simon Latkoczy for the majority of the season. Latkoczy's nine wins leads all USHL netminders. In 10 games played, Latkoczy has accumulated a .909 save percentage and 2.67 GAA with one shutout.
Both contests the Caps participate in this weekend are set for a 7:05 p.m. CT puck drop.
