Edmonton Capitals News Release
Chico, CA - The Edmonton Capitals continued to pound the baseball on Wednesday night against the Chico Outlaws, as they put double-digits in the runs column for the third straight game to earn their third straight victory. The Caps won 11-2 on Monday and 10-5 on Tuesday before Wednesday's 12-1 decision.
Third baseman Carlos Duncan continued his onslaught on Outlaws pitching as he crushed a home run for the second consecutive game and finished Wednesday's contest with two hits, two runs scored and four RBI. Left fielder Todd Linden also smacked a longball, scored two runs and had two RBI.
The Caps got a gem of a pitching performance from starter Daryl Arreola. His older brother Andrew picked up the victory in Tuesday's game, and Daryl won in convincing fashion on Wednesday, surrendering just one run and five hits through seven innings while striking out five Outlaws. David Davidson and Jorge Vasquez struck out a pair of batters each during back-to-back scoreless innings to finish the game.
Centre fielder Jamie McGraw continued to impress with his new team, as he went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored three runs and picked up one RBI. He has a .333 batting average with seven runs scored through four games since joining the Caps upon their arrival in California. In addition to throwing his second straight victory, Arreola had a productive night at the plate with a double, two singles, a run scored and one RBI.
Since the Lake County Fielders also posted a win on Wednesday, the Caps (25-14) remain in a tie for first place in the North American League's North Division. Edmonton and Chico play a double-header on Thursday and single games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to finish the nine-game series. The Caps then play three games in Calgary against the Vipers July 12-14.
The Caps finally make their return to TELUS Field to host the Vipers and continue the battle of Alberta July 15-17. The Friday game is another Fireworks Friday presented by 92.5 JOE FM, while the Sunday afternoon game is Cheemo Ukrainian Day, as well as Family Pack Sunday presented by Dental Choice and 630 CHED, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four Pepsi products for just $52.
