
'Caps Hire Head Groundskeeper

COMSTOCK PARK, MI -The West Michigan Whitecaps announced today the hiring of Greg Salyer as head groundskeeper. Salyer is a 2006 graduate of Joliet Junior College in Illinois with a degree in turf management.
Salyer, a Kouts, Indiana native, spent the past two seasons as assistant groundskeeper with the Joliet Jackhammers of the independent Northern League. In 2006, Salyer helped the Jackhammers take home the Field of the Year award in the Northern League. Salyer also completed an internship with Joliet in 2005 and was hired on full-time after six weeks.
"I would like to thank the Whitecaps for the opportunity to join the organization," said Salyer. "I am looking forward to a great season in West Michigan."
"Greg comes to West Michigan with good experience that can only strengthen our organization," said Jim Jarecki, Vice President of Whitecaps Professional Baseball. "His attitude and passion for the position is as positive as I have seen."
Salyer started with the Whitecaps on Monday, March 19.
