
Caps Fall in Madison to Black Hawks, Win at Young Arena

Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols opened their preseason on Friday night against the Waterloo Black Hawks, dropping a 4-2 decision at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.
Eric Shaw picked up Madison's opening goal at 12:09 of the second period off assists from Eetu Selanne and Charlie Parker.
Madison took a 2-1 lead in the third period on a goal by Middleton native Anthony Callin. Callin redirected a point shot by Luke Manning to put the Capitols in front.
The lead was short lived, however, as Waterloo picked up three goals in the span of less than three minutes to propel themselves to a 4-2 victory.
In net, Madison had contributions from University of Minnesota commit Ryan Edquist (15 saves on 16 shots) and Anthony Yamnitsky (11 saves on 14 shots).
While Madison fell on home ice, the Capitols were able to prevail in the other half of the split squad series, defeating Waterloo 3-1 at Young Arena.
Ryan Lohin, Joey Kubachka, and Matt Jones provided the offense for Madison in the victory.
The split squads will change sides tomorrow as they meet for the secondn time in as many days on Saturday in the same venues. Puck drop from Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena is slated for 3 p.m.
