Lincoln Capitols News Release

Lincoln, NE – The Capitols are taking the bus for a long trip to Billings to play the Mavericks. This will be the second meeting of the season against the Mavericks. In the first meeting, John Hall ran for 62 yards and a touchdown in Lincoln. Due to a knee injury, Hall has been sidelined since that game but is itching to make his return this weekend. The Capitols also lost Quarterbacks Aaron Thumann and John Brady to season ending knee injuries in the early season match up against the Mavericks.

Veteran Quarterback Bob Bees, who in the first meeting went 16 for 29 with 171 yards and four touchdowns, will lead the Mavericks. The Mavericks have also recently signed QB Chris Dixon who will be playing in his first game for the Mavericks.

The Capitols will be bringing a few new faces with them, as well. Josh Cochran will be joining the Capitols to play on the Offensive Line. Cochran played his college ball at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Michael Spriggs will be making his first trip as a Capitol to back up Quarterback to Marlin McKinney. The 6'3 215 pound Spriggs played his college ball at Lincoln University, the same college where Capitols Defensive Back, Ja Thi Green played.

The Capitols will return home next weekend, when they play host to the Wyoming Cavalry. The Capitols will not be back at home after next weekends game until July 2 when they will face the Mavericks again. Tickets for the game are still for sale. So come out and support your Lincoln Capitols. After the game come down on the field and meet the players and coaches.
