Capitals Recall Dany Sabourin, Sean Collins and Cody Eakin

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Dany Sabourin, defenseman Sean Collins and forward Cody Eakin from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Sabourin, 31, went 18-12-5 with a 2.76 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage in 37 games with Hershey this season and posted a 3-2 record with a 3.19 goals-against average and a .882 save percentage in the Calder Cup playoffs. He spent all of last season with the Bears, recording a 14-9-0 record with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 23 games.

The 6'4", 204-pound Sabourin has appeared in 57 career NHL games with the Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vancouver Canucks, compiling a record of 18-25-0-4 with a 2.88 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.

The Val-d'Or, Quebec, native was originally Calgary's fourth-round choice, 108th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Collins, 28, played in 65 games for Hershey this season, registering two goals, eight assists and 45 penalty minutes. He posted four penalty minutes in five Calder Cup playoff games. Last season, Collins recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) and led Hershey with a +29 plus/minus rating in 73 games. The 6'1", 205-pound native of Troy, Michigan, has appeared in two games with Washington this season and recorded three shots on goal.

The former Ohio State Buckeye has played in 21 career NHL games, all with Washington, and has collected three points (two goals, one assist) and 12 penalty minutes. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Capitals on March 17, 2007.

Eakin, 20, collected eight points (four goals, four assists) and a plus-two rating in 29 NHL games this season. He made his NHL debut on Nov. 1 vs. Anaheim and recorded his first NHL point (an assist) and scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 4 at Carolina.

Eakin recorded 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 43 games with Hershey in the AHL this season and tallied one assist in five Calder Cup playoff games. In his first full professional season, Eakin led all rookies on Hershey in goals, assists and points. Eakin appeared in four regular-season games for Hershey during the 2009-10 season (two goals) and played in five postseason games as Hershey won the 2010 Calder Cup.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native helped Canada earn a silver medal at the World Junior Championship last season and helped guide the Kootenay Ice to the Western Hockey League (WHL) championship. Eakin finished the Memorial Cup playoff round tied for second in points (six) and his three goals scored tied for third. He collected 239 points (118 goals, 121 assists) in 238 career WHL games.

Sabourin and Eakin will participate in practice today at Kettler Capitals Iceplex at 11 a.m.
