
Capitals ink defenseman Trevor Byrne

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS have announced in conjunction with the NHL's Washington Capitals that defenseman Trevor Byrne has signed an NHL two-way contract for the next two seasons. Per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The announcement was made today jointly by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and Capitals VP/General Manager George McPhee.
Byrne played in 51 games for the AHL's Peoria Rivermen in 2005-06, scoring three goals and notching 21 points. Originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, the Weymouth, MA native played four seasons for Dartmouth prior to turning pro. Standing at 6'3" and weighing 205 lbs, Byrne brings 154 games of AHL experience to the Washington organization.
