Edmonton Capitals News Release
Tucson, AZ - Even a gutsy performance from the Capitals 2009 Most Valuable Pitcher wasn't enough to give the team their first win of the 2010 season. Lou Pote pitched seven scoreless innings and scattered just 4 hits against Tucson batters but the Toros scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning to win 2 - 0. The two teams combined for just 9 hits in the defensive battle. Lefty Ryan Paul picked up the first two outs in the eighth inning easily enough before getting into trouble with a couple of wild pitches combined with an error in the outfield allowing the Toros to get on the board. Offensively, Eric McNamee lead the way for the Caps with a 2 for 4 night.
Edmonton will try to avoid the series sweep Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson. They'll follow that up with a three game series in Yuma against the Scorpions.
The Edmonton Capitals are Edmonton's first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment. Capitals season seats start at under $9 per game and individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. The Caps Home Opener is scheduled for Tuesday, June 1 at TELUS Field. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, at (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
