Capitals and Bears sign defensemen

HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club and Washington Capitals announced today that they have signed defensemen Mark Wotton and Dwayne Zinger. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Wotton, 5'10" 196 pounds, was drafted in the tenth round of the 1992 entry draft by the Vancouver Canucks. Prior to spending last season playing in Russia, Wotton spent four seasons playing for the Utah Grizzlies and recorded 20 goals and 49 assists in 212 games. Wotton has also played in 43 NHL games with Vancouver and Dallas.

Zinger, 6'4" 221 pounds, has spent the past three seasons with the Portland Pirates amassing 234 penalty minutes. The Coronation, Alberta native also spent three seasons with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks compiling 309 penalty minutes in 149 games.

The BEARS return to the ice at GIANT Center for an exhibition game on Saturday, September 24 for a game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY will also host the Norfolk Admirals for a preseason game Sunday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. before opening the 2005-06 regular season home schedule on Sunday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m. against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
