Edmonton Capitals News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals have acquired infielder Jose Morban in the final leg of the regular season. Morban, a native of the Dominican Republic, played short stop for the Baltimore Orioles for 61 games in 2003. Morban spent last season playing in Edmonton for Field Manager Brent Bowers and hit 23 home runs. Prior to playing in Edmonton, he spent some time with the Calgary Vipers. Morban will be practicing with the team on Monday at 3pm and will start against the Calgary Vipers on Tuesday. Carlos Duncan, who is injured, has been placed on the inactive list indefinitely.

The Edmonton Capitals have the weekend off due to the cancelled series against the Tijuana Potros. Earlier this year, the Golden Baseball League made the decision to suspend the Tijuana franchise due to the effects of the H1N1 virus in Mexico. The team will resume their playoff push mid next week against the Calgary Vipers and return home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the end of the regular season.

Any tickets held for the games August 21st, 22nd or 23rd can be exchanged for tickets to the final weekend series of the regular season August 28th - 30th against the Calgary Vipers. Those can be redeemed at the Capitals Game Day Office during regular business hours between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Telus Field located at 10233-96 Avenue.
