
Toros Cap Series In Yuma With Second Straight Win

Yuma, AZ-The first place Tucson Toros completed their three game series in Yuma with their second straight win by defeating the Scorpions 5-4 in 10 innings in Thursday. The teams exchanged pair of two run innings in the game, taking a 4-4 tie into extras when First Baseman Mayobanex Santana hit a go ahead RBI single that scored Designated Hitter Dustin Yount giving the Toros a 1 run edge.
Lefthanded Closer Reid Price was perfect in the bottom of the 10th, not allowing a baserunner in a scoreless frame to preserve the 1-run lead a notch his 9th save of the season. Price has not recorded saves in each of the last two games.
Santana's 10th inning heroics were the culmination of a stellar night at the plate in which he went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Second Baseman Junior Spivey matched with 3 hits of his own and two runs scored to improve his batting average to .325 since joining the Toros.
Starter Jason Jacome held Yuma to 2 runs in 5 innings of work. Cibney Bello improved to 5-1 with the win in relief.
With the victory Tucson extended their commanding lead on the GBL Southern Division, leading second place St. George in winning percentage .640 to .531 with 10 games remaining for each team.
The Toros will return home on Friday to host division rival Orange County for a pivotal 3 game set at Hi Corbett Field that is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. Friday night. The game will be able to be heard live on COOL 1450 AM or online at www.tucsontoros.com.
